Consultations for Couples and Professionals
Couples
Consultation can be helpful when you need a different perspective about a specific issue, or if you need some general, next-step strategizing about what’s ahead. It’s important to remember that, unlike therapy, a consultation is a one-time meeting. While it is not therapy, it might help you decide if couple counseling is a good option. Alternatively, you may just need a good “coaching” session.
Some of the issues couples may want to consult about include communication, intimacy, parenting, adult children, and later life challenges.
Professionals
Consultation is useful when you feel stuck with a particular patient or client situation. Both Judy and Peter are grounded in a systemic (relational) foundation and bring a biopsychosocial approach to working with individuals, couples, and families.
We consult with primary care physicians, pediatricians, psychologists, couple/family therapists, and other mental health professionals with the goal of providing the best service to the patient and client. Our areas of expertise include trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and the use of medications.
